Sensor Types

Sensor Types

In the Wiafleet system, all sensors are classified into six main categories:

  • Voltage Sensor
  • Ignition Sensor

  • Custom Sensor

  • Fuel Level Sensor (FLS

Below are the descriptions of sensor types in each group.

Sensor Type Units of Measurement Description
Ignition Sensor

On/Off or any

A sensor that tracks the ignition status (on or off). It is used to detect the start and end of trips, as well as idle periods. Also applied in mileage and engine hour calculations.
Voltage Sensor V (volts) A sensor that displays voltage level. Based on the voltage, it is possible to determine whether the engine is running or not.
Fuel Level Sensor L (liters), gal (gallons) A sensor that measures the fuel level in the tank. To ensure accurate readings, calibration and tank charting must be performed. It is recommended to review a setup example before creating the sensor in the system.

Custom Sensor

Any A sensor that can be configured to measure any parameter. Custom sensors support any user-defined unit and only accept numeric or text values. Often used with CAN readers to display data from a vehicle’s CAN bus, such as coolant temperature, engine RPM, fuel level, and other technical parameters.
